Under Sink Countertop Water Filters
Activated Carbon Filters - Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) And Carbon Block Filters.
Carbon removes/reduces many volatile organic chemicals (VOC), pesticides and herbicides, as well as chlorine, benzene, trihalomethane (THM) compounds, radon, solvents and hundreds of other man-made chemicals found in tap water. Densely compacted carbon block filters mechanically remove particles down to 0.5 micron, including Giardia and Cryptosporidium, turbidity and particulates. Although some iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide will be removed by a carbon block filter, if they are present at higher levels the effectiveness of carbon filter against iron and manganese is generally short-lived, you should consider a system with KDF.
Granular Activated Carbon does not remove sediment / particulate material very well, so they are often
preceded by a sediment filter. Sediment pre-filters also prolong the activate carbon cartridge life by eliminating gross contaminants that would otherwise clog the activated carbon thereby reducing the surface area available for absorption. Carbon block filters are generally better then GAC filters at removing sediment.
All our three stage system comes with a sediment filter, a granular
activated carbon, followed by a carbon block filter.

Sediment Filters
All of our sediment filters use multi-gradient spun polypropylene filter cartridges. These cartridges use the entire depth of their media by trapping the largest sediment particles on the outside of the filter, then gradually stepping down the size of particles they will reject as the water moves closer to the core of the filter. The result is longer filter life, greater dirt-holding capacity, higher flow rates, and remarkably low pressure drop. The 100% pure polypropylene media is highly resistant to bacteria and chemicals, making this an excellent choice for both well water and municipal water treatment applications.
Specialty Filter Options: See Parts
Activated Alumina Filters
Activated alumina cartridges and reverse osmosis membrane filtration systems are the two effective methods for removing fluoride from drinking water. Both can remove 80 to 90 percent of the fluoride. If you search on the terms "fluoride removal" at the US Environmental Protection Agency site, you will find several articles on removing fluoride. The accepted and most effective method is using aluminum oxide.
In an under sink filter system, if removing fluoride is important to you, we recommend that you purchase the Activated Alumina cartridge as an option, or step up to a reverse osmosis system.
KDF55/GAC Filters
A KDF/GAC filter is used to remove most of the contaminants that GAC alone cannot remove. KDF85 can remove iron, hydrogen sulfide, and up to 98% of soluble lead, mercury, and other dissolved metals. We highly recommend this filter as part of your system. KDF55 will remove chlorine, heavy metals, reduce scale, and guard against growth of organisms that causes carbon fouling. Since the KDF does most of the heavy lifting in a mixed carbon/KDF filter, the carbon will last much longer than a regular carbon filter.
Multi Media Filter
A blend of media, including calcite, to raise the PH of water. Alkaline water is preferred by many for numerous health benefits.
Color Changing Deionizer Filters
RESINTECH MBD-30 is a color indicating mixed bed resin. The anion resin is a Type I strongly basic gel resin with an indicator dye that changes from blue to light brown as the resin exhausts. Used with Reverse Osmosis systems to obtain the best water for aquariums. Look for it in our Filters/Parts page.
Calcite Filters
Calcite is a crushed and screened white marble media which can inexpensively be used to neutralize acidic or low pH waters to a neutral, less corrosive effluent. Calcite is a naturally occurring calcium carbonate media. One of the advantages of Calcite is its self-limiting property. When properly applied, it corrects pH only enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium. It does not overcorrect under normal conditions. Upon contact with calcite, acidic waters slowly dissolve the calcium carbonate to raise the pH
Multi Media Negative ORP/Alkaline/Far Infrared filter - Designed to add essential minerals back ie. calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium, as well as to provide the anti oxidant qualities of Negative ORP and Far Infrared in a filter. This filter will increase the alkalinity without over correcting. This alkaline antioxidant filter provides abundant Active Hydrogen and also increases reduction power by increasing pH, making small water cluster and providing beneficial minerals. Negative ORP, which is produced with ionized alkaline water, severely retards the aging process. By counteracting oxidative damage to our cells. It does this by hunting down free radicals in our system and neutralizing them. Negative ORP is a very powerful anti-oxidant. and is found naturally in orange juice, glacial runoff and deep underground uncontaminated aquifer or spring water.
Bone Char Carbon

			Unlike standard coconut or charcoal

The use of bone
charcoal or bone char is reported to be an effective means for the
reduction of fluoride. Bone charcoal contains a carbon structure
while supporting a porous hydroxyapatite matrix (a calcium phosphate
hydroxide in crystalline form which is rich in surface ions which
can be readily replaced by fluoride ion). Adsorption and ion
exchange are thought to be the mechanism for fluoride reduction by
bonechar. This carbon also acts like regular carbon.
			A whole-house filter system treats
all water traveling to any faucet or fixture in the home. It removes
the chemical before it can be ingested, breathed in, or absorbed by
the skin during washing or bathing. A larger carbon filter like this
one provides better filtration because of the amount of carbon, and
depth of the filter bed. It does not cause a water pressure drop in
your home compared to solid block carbon filter installed at the
point of entry. Carbon removes/reduces many volatile organic
chemicals (VOC), pesticides and herbicides, as well as chlorine,
benzene, trihalomethane (THM) compounds, radon, solvents and
hundreds of other man-made chemicals found in tap water.Carbon
is a substance that has a long history of being used to absorb
impurities and is perhaps the most powerful absorbent known to man.
One pound of carbon contains a surface area of roughly 125 acres and
can absorb literally thousands of different chemicals. Activated
carbon which has a slight electro-positive charge added to it,
making it even more attractive to chemicals and impurities.
